From Couch to Community 5K in 12 Weeks

Sunita hadn't run since school. Coach Leena wrote the plan, the pace pod showed up every Saturday. The rest is receipts.

Sunita joined Tribe Fortis at 41. She hadn't run — properly run — since high school PE. Her first Saturday 5K, she walked most of it and finished in 42 minutes.

The plan

Coach Leena placed her in the beginner pace pod: 7-min/km, walking breaks every 2 minutes. The first month was about consistency, not speed. Three sessions a week. Tuesday hills (walking), Thursday easy jog, Saturday 5K attempt.

The turning point

Week 6. Sunita ran the full 5K without a walk break. 36 minutes. The pace pod cheered her through the last 400 metres. She cried at the finish. Coach Leena pretended not to notice.

By week 12, she was at 31 minutes. By month 9, she ran her first half marathon — 2:28. The squad showed up at every km marker.
